BUGBANE Fly Ribbon

Roll your fruit fly traps for indoor in your hands to warm up, then pop off the lid and gently unravel the fly trap tape. Each fly sticky trap indoor includes a pin for easy hanging.

FEATURES

  • Adhesive Ribbon: Each roll contains a long, double-sided strip coated with a very strong, long lasting glue.

  • Non-Toxic: Since they rely on physical stickiness rather than vapors or poisons, they are generally safer for use in homes with pets or near food preparation areas.

  • Included Pins: The inclusion of thumbtacks/pins is a standard feature to help secure the cardboard housing to ceilings, doorframes, or beams.

Frequently Asked Questions

Use a small amount of vegetable oil, baby oil, or mineral oil to break down the adhesive bond. Rub the oil over the sticky spot, then wash with warm soapy water to remove the oily residue.

There are two main reasons to change a strip:

  • Capacity: When the surface area is mostly covered by insects.

  • Dust: In dusty environments (like garages or workshops), a layer of debris can coat the glue, making it lose its “tack.” Generally, a strip remains effective for up to 8 weeks unless it becomes covered in dust or flies sooner.

No. These traps are strictly for outdoor use. The bait has a very strong, unpleasant odor similar to rotting organic matter, which is necessary to attract flies but is not suitable for indoor environments.

Yes. The Bugbane Fly Strips are non-toxic and do not contain chemical insecticides or poisonous vapors.

Ensure the ribbon is fully extended. If the “weight” of the cardboard tube isn’t enough to keep it vertical, you can slightly crimp the bottom of the tube to add stability, or hang it in a spot with less direct airflow.

Useful Tips

To ensure the traps work efficiently, consider these placement and maintenance tips:

  • Warmth and Light: Flies are naturally attracted to heat and light. Hanging the strips near windows or light sources (but not directly touching them) often increases the catch rate.

  • Avoid Drafts: While some airflow is fine, heavy drafts can cause the sticky ribbon to sway and potentially stick to walls, curtains, or hair.

  • Proper Unrolling: If the room is cold, the glue can become stiff. It’s often helpful to warm the tube in your hands for a minute before pulling the red string to ensure the ribbon unrolls smoothly without tearing.

  • Height Matters: For houseflies, hanging the strips roughly 5 to 6 feet off the ground is usually the “sweet spot” for their flight paths.
